Description
Lokashakti's mission is to promote peace and social justice around the world. We believe that all power is in the hands of the people and that through collective nonviolent action we can free ourselves from injustice and war. By providing resources for networking, organizing, and education, we help empower groups and individuals seeking to create positive nonviolent social change.
Our band complements the work of our nonprofit, raising awareness of issues, and giving us a chance to one day become financially self-sufficient. All proceeds from the sale of our music are therefore used to assist the work we do.

Announcements
This year on October 1 - our second anniversary as an organization - we hereby announce the formal launch of our brand new website: the Lokashakti Peace & Social Justice Network. Reflecting years of efforts by some amazing volunteers, the Lokashakti Network promises to revolutionize the way people organize online. Some of the features we're most excited about include:
- Our interactive map - where you can search for organizations, places, and projects related to peace and social justice anywhere around the world
- Our global events calendar - listing actions and other events you can participate in yourself, putting your ideals into practice
- Our text message system - allowing organization and event administrators to send text messages to members or anyone signed up to attend an event
There are plenty more awesome features waiting for you if you sign up for an account, such as photo uploads, video sharing, instant messaging, email, and exclusive page content for organizations, as well as early versions of our educational resources, including the Lokashakti Library and the Lokashakti Encyclopedia.
