The Masque of Anarchy

Written in 1819 but not published until 1832, this seminal expression of the virtues of nonviolent resistance would go on to be quoted extensively by Mohandas Gandhi throughout the course of his movement for Indian independence. Shelley's protest poem was inspired by 1819's Peterloo Massacre in Manchester, England.

The Men Behind The Wire

Written about the internment in Northern Ireland, this song propelled Irish folk group The Barleycorn to national fame, where it became the biggest selling single up until that point in time.

The Revolution in Russia

Essay written by Peter Kropotkin in December 1905 on the recent nonviolent uprising in Russia, vindicating the position of anarchists that the tactic of a general strike could be used to extraordinary effect in terms of compelling a government to capitulate to reforms.

The Wall - Banksy

A series of nine pieces done during a 2005 visit to the occupied West Bank by British street artist Banksy. With the Israeli separation barrier as a canvas, these images are among his most notorious and inherently political work.

There is Power in a Union - Joe Hill

Set to the music of the Christian hymn 'There is Power in the Blood (of the Lamb)', this song was meant to bolster recruitment for the Industrial Workers of the World. It was first published in the 1913 edition of the IWW's 'Little Red Songbook'.
