Inspired in Senegal and Zimbabwe in 1999 & 2000, and registered in the USA as 501c3 tax-exempt organization in 2001, Empowerment WORKS (EW) is a global sustainability think-tank in action advancing whole-system, locally-led solutions for a thriving world.
In the world's most culturally rich, yet economically challenged communities, access to markets, appropriate technologies and education can empower people to transform local problems into sustainable livelihoods & opportunities to address the issues that matter most.
Working globally from the ground up, EW brings these tools within the grasp of citizens, businesses & organizations on the front lines of poverty, climate change and conflict. Guided by EW's flagship 7 Stages to Sustainability (7SS) collaboration framework, local partners utilize local human and environmental resources as building blocks for a sustainable future.
Through The Global Summit, the African Local Summit, its ongoing Artists in Action event series and other creative media outreach, EW unites community-led initiatives with a multi-sector network of Partners in Empowerment (PIE) who contribute their diverse skills, appropriate technologies and access to market to catalyze local impact.
Through this holistic mission, Empowerment WORKS inspires people across the globe to realize the value of their existing knowledge, unique talents and collective potential to change the world.
